What You Need to Know About Pinteresting Strategies (Full Review)

This post may contain affiliate links. Please refer to my disclosure.

Pinteresting Strategies was one of the first paid blogging courses I ever handed my hard-earned money over for.

I’m sure you know those days of working your butt off on your blog only to see a pitiful few pageviews filter in over the course of the day.

It feels like you’re talking to a brick wall.

There’s this myth out there that bloggers start making money as soon as they start blogging.

News flash…that’s not true…at least not in most cases.

Because of that, forking out money for blogging courses is hard to do. It is super risky to pay for something you aren’t sure will work.

And gosh do you want it to work…

You really want to make money blogging.

Well, I took the Pinteresting Strategies course several months ago and I’m finally ready to give my full review of it and whether or not I think it is worth your time and money.

Why Do You Need a Pinterest Strategy?

Before we delve into the course itself I think it is important to address why you even need or want a Pinterest strategy in the first place.

Here are some very valid reasons:

#1 Pinterest is awesome at bringing traffic to your blog.

This isn’t true for all niche’s, but it is for a lot of them.

The first blog that I started is in the parenting niche and Pinterest has been very kind to it.

My second blog, (this one) is geared towards work at home moms. The content here includes blogging tips and home management advice.

I don’t get as much Pinterest traffic to my blogging content as I do to home management.

#2 You Need to Know WHY Something is Working

For the first two years of blogging, I knitted together random Pinterest strategies that I learned from other bloggers.

I mean, it worked and my traffic grew, but the problem was that I didn’t know what it was that I was doing in order to grow my traffic.

I was doing random things and crossing my fingers that my “good luck” continued.

This is not the way you want to blog if you intend for blogging to last long term for you.

In summary, it covers a lot. The course is not for total newbies, but Carly clearly states that.

However, if you have a bit of content on your site and need to know how to really start generating traffic from Pinterest, this course is what you want to take a look at.

You can find out more about it HERE.

After going through the course, here are my thoughts on the pros and cons.

taking notes on Pinterest strategy

Pros:

Honestly (as I’m sure you can tell by now) I kind of gush about this course because I really did love it and it really has made a difference to my blog traffic.

Super Affordable

The first pro is its price point. You’ll find courses priced all over the show, anywhere from $20 up to over $1000.

It can be really difficult to decide whether you should invest any amount of money on a course when you’re not sure if it will pay off.

The cost of Pinteresting Strategies isn’t astronomical and won’t set you back even if you didn’t find value in it (although, I’m not sure how that would happen).

I love that Carly even has a bundle deal for her Pinteresting Strategies & Affiliate Marketing course so that you can get more for less.

You can check that out HERE…and I definitely recommend her affiliate marketing course. I got is as part of the 2018 Genius Blogger’s Toolkit and was blown away!

Honest

Carly doesn’t spend a heck of a lot of time selling her course to you, but I think what makes her content so incredible, is her honesty.

She won’t make promises she can’t keep and she’ll call it as she sees it.

To me, this was very refreshing in an online space that is often overwhelmed with sales fluff.

A Mixture of Learning Styles

You’ll find both written and video content in the course which is great if you have different ways of learning.

I prefer to read for the most part, but there are some things that just require a video explanation.

There’s a Lot of Information

Do you have hours to spend analyzing Pinterest and how it works? If so, then great…go get started.

I personally didn’t have that opportunity. Not with 3 young children at home with me 24/7.

With Carly’s course, you get ALL of her HOURS of time spent researching the Pinterest algorithm and get it nicely laid out for you in a course that will show you what to do with what she found.

Cons:

I’m not sure that there are any genuine cons to Carly’s course because it is really full of so much value.

If I were to be really nitpicky, I would say that video quality could be improved, but she acknowledges that herself.

You know exactly what you’re going to get from her because she’s honest.

Goes Against the Grain

If you’re a stickler for rules you may not love all of her recommendations.

Don’t get me wrong, we’re not talking about anything unethical. However, Carly doesn’t always recommend what other “Pinterest experts” do.

If you’re going to do take this course, you need to go into it with an open mind.

The recommendations in it are there for a reason. Trust me.

Pinteresting Strategies Results

Here’s what you really want to know though, right?

Did the strategies in the course actually do anything for my blog traffic?

First of all…I kind of hate this kind of thing because there are SO MANY VARIABLES when it comes to blogging and blog traffic.

For the sake of transparency, let me share with you my Pinterest analytics (from Google Analytics) starting from when I began implementing her strategies.

You can tap on the image to enlarge it if you need to.

I bought Carly’s course at the beginning of April 2019. Obviously, it took me a few weeks to get into the swing of using her strategies.

Every month since taking her course and using her tips I’ve seen pins go viral on Pinterest, resulting in some of my highest ever traffic days to date.

In fact, I firmly believe it was her course that helped me to reach my goal of getting 100k pageviews in a month.

Does Pinterest traffic still dip? Sure. She doesn’t promise you’ll always have viral pins or insane traffic, but she gives you the tools to make that much more of a possibility.

I’ve also been using her strategies on this blog which is all of 6-months old and that helped me to qualify for Mediavine several months ahead of my goal.

Who is Pinteresting Strategies For?

So who is this course for?

  • Anyone with a Pinterest-friendly niche. If you know that your kind of reader likes to hang out on Pinterest, then this course will benefit you.
  • Bloggers that are wanting to know the “why” behind Pinterest success. This course will give you an almost behind-the-scenes look into the Pinterest algorithm so you can truly understand why you need to do what Carly recommends.
  • Bloggers that need a refresh on their Pinterest account. If you’re finding that your Pinterest traffic is on a downward trajectory or even if it has just plateaued, this course will help.
  • Any blogger that is serious about generating Pinterest traffic. If you want strategies that have been proven to work, then you’ll want to consider investing in Pinteresting Strategies.
  • Bloggers that are okay with manual pinning. Carly’s methods are mostly based upon manual pinning. She does cover the use of Tailwind, but using it is not at all necessary. I personally do a mixture of the two.

Investing in Pinteresting Strategies was a game-changer for my blog. To be honest, just being on Carly’s email list has totally amped up my blogging game and has given me a new mindset.

She is honest, vulnerable and encouraging all at the same time and it is a breath of fresh air in the blogging world.
